I am depressed if I am not obsessed with something, often several things alternatively at once.

1. Recent California history and culture - reading: Coast of Dreams by Kevin Starr
2. pictures of Cosplayers
3. Tetris
4. Firefly (Just finished watching the series and have yet to see the Serenity movie)
5. Stout beers
6. Red House Painters
7. Kings of Convenience
8. Cake (the baked kind, not the band)

It's been a beautiful day. I sat out on the deck in the sun, reading for a couple hours. It was warm enough to take my shirt off and I got a little color on my skin. I drank bourbon and coke; it felt like southern California. But the rain is supposed to return on Sunday.

yeah, I've been thinking of you and your interest in CA too. I've just been thinking a lot about my own identity and how it relates to my northern and southern CA experience, and that identity is basically a confused one, and it seems the nature of CA to be confused, conflicted, in constant flux, and currently in a kind of crisis I think (wow, lots of c-words). I started thinking that I wanted to write a book about CA, and then I found this one which I think will address lots of the things I've been thinking (a whole chapter on SF vs LA). So this is the start of my research. We'll have to discuss it next time we get a chance to talk.

you know, she is single, BUT I think that she thinks I'm her boyfriend. She doesn't seem to like my human girlfriend much at times.
